Official Delaware State Geocoins
During
the srpint of 2007 Delaware Geocaching hosted the Caching Around the
Colonial Hundreds Event (C.A.C.H.E.). The event featured 24 geocaches
hidden (one each) in the 24 hundreds that existed during Colonial
Times. The event culminated in a second event where all those who found
all 24 these caches were rewarded with a special geocoin designed by
Delaware Geocacher Dinobalz. Additional versions of this coin were
minted and Delaware Geocaching has adopted it as the Official 2007
Delaware State Geocoin.
Shown below are the three styles minted.
The
Prize Edition
(Place

This
polished nickle and antique brass version of the coin is
the prize edition. Copies of this coin were presented
to geocachers who found all 24 of the event geocaches. Less then
200 of these were minted.
While
this version is not for sale a few of them will be auctioned.
Watch
for details.
The
Standard Edition
(Place

The antigue gold version of the coin is the standard edition. Only 500
of these were minted and it is the one and only Official 2007 Delaware
State Geocoin. We expect these coins to go fast. This coin will make any
collection shine.
This
coin is trackable on Geocaching.com.
This coin sells for $9.00. Shipping and handling within the United
States is extra.

The
Collectors Edition
(Place Cursor on the Image to see the other side of the coin.
The
Black version of the coin is primarily for Delaware Geocaching use. Only
50 of them were minted.
This
coin is not for sale. Instead Delaware Geocaching will use them for very
special club prizes. One or more may also be raffeled at events.
These three versions are the one and only Official
2007 Delaware State Geocoins. All of these coins are trackable on Geocaching.com.
2006
Official Delaware State Geocoin
Delaware
Geocaching did not mint an Official Delaware State Geocoin in the year
2006.
2005
Official Delaware State Geocoins
Thanks to Jeff
Lundstrom and Mike Ott there were three official Delaware
Geocoins for 2005.
Note: These coins are sold out - no more are available from Delaware Geocaching.
The Limited Edition
(Place
Cursor on the Image to see the other side of the coin.)
This was a Limited Edition coin for the hardcore collector. Only
300 of these coins were minted. This coin was made to be trackable on Geocaching.com.
This coin sold for $12.00. Sales were limited t0 1 per customer/shipping address.
Note: We knew this coin was expensive, but we used the proceeds for a
"Grand Experiment". All the proceeds from the sale of this coin went
toward our effort to put geocoins back where they belong, in the
caches! We bought regular edition coins which we activated under our
"Delaware Geocaching"account. These regular editon coins were placed in
caches all around the world thereby giving the average cacher a better
opportunity to actually find a state coin, log it and place it in
another cache. We're happy to report that this experiment was
successful.
The Regular Edition
(Place
Cursor on the Image to see the other side of the coin.)
This
coin was designed to make any collection shine. A must for the collector
interested in state coins as this was the one and
only Official 2005 Delaware State Geocoin. This coin was trackable on Geocaching.com.
When purchased from Delaware Geocaching this coin sold for $8.00 with
all shipping and handling within the United States included in the
price of the coin.
NOTE: This coin was pretty much priced at cost. Money earned from sales
of this version of the coin went go directly to finance Delaware
Geocaching
club activities.
The
Ugly Edition
(Place
Cursor on the Image to see the other side of the coin.)
This
version of the coin was part of our grand experiment. It was NOT for
sale by Delaware Geocaching. We purchased a quanity of these coins and
activated them under our
Delaware Geocaching club account. In that was we intended for
them to have no trade value. We expected them to be used exclusively
as travel coins.
We
made ugly so they would have a better chance of not getting
swiped. Since production of these coins was cheaper than their pretty
cousins, so were able to get more. We also hope that by flooding the
system with these ugly edition coins the regular edition coins would
retain
their value as a collectors item.
It
should be noted that we also released about 60 of the regular
edition coins (also activated by Delaware Geocaching) around the world.
If
you'd like to see how well our goal of keeping these coins
in caches, check out the link to their travel bug listing. It's
in the Links section of this site.

Delaware
Geocoin #01 Legendary geocacher Moun10Bike,
the man who "invented" the geocoin by minting and placing
the first coin, was sent the Delaware Geocachers Coin#1. In keeping
with our goal of getting coins back into cachers, he placed it in
a cache in Washington State. This link will take you to the tracking
page for this coin. Be sure to visit the gallery to see a nice picture
of the coin and an enlarged version of Moun10Bike placing the coin.
